Holly Cook

Born locally in Cardiff, California, Coach Holly Cook has played soccer since age 4. From ages 9 to 16 she started playing competitively for the Cardiff Mustangs, coached by Kraig Chiles, and she accredits her happiest soccer moments to that team. In her senior year of high school Holly committed to play DI soccer at University of California, Davis, while in recovery from tearing her ACL. Holly remembers college soccer being difficult, both physically and mentally, especially while recovering from an injury, but her love for the game never wavered. She played for the DI team for two years before tearing her ACL once more, but finished out her recovery before medically retiring from the team. Despite the setbacks, she always remained close to soccer, for it was and still is her favorite game.

She considers herself lucky to have been welcomed to coach for Cardiff whenever she was home from college and has now coached at Sockers youth camps for close to 10 years.

Now living back in San Diego, it only made sense for Holly to return to coaching for the Sockers. Holly’s love for this organization is deeply rooted, as her soccer career started on the same fields where she will now coach. She looks forward to coaching young girls and is excited for the opportunity to help them develop their technical skills, positive mindsets and to inspire them to love the game as much as she does. As a coach, she hopes to create a happy, competitive team environment similar to the one she grew up with, and believes that soccer should be fun above all else.
